• Timeline - Students should refer to Alfred University's Allied Health Checklist to assist them in curriculum and career planning.
• A balanced and comprehensive high school and college education is an important first step in the pursuit of most allied health professions.
• The requirements for admission into the different allied health programs vary so students should review the prerequisites relevant to the particular fields and programs they intend to apply to and then plan their course of study at AU so that these requirements are fulfilled.
• Credential File/Dossier - Alfred University's Career Development Center has developed two resources to assist students in the preparation of a complete credential file/dossier. One provides instructions on preparing a credential file/dossier, the other is a pre-health dossier checklist.

Options
Alfred University offers a major in Athletic Training Education and a minors in Exercise Science and Biological Illustration. The Biological Illustration minor may provide some of the background relevant to entering a master’s program in Medical Illustration.

Most of these allied health professions require specialized training beyond what Alfred University offers, but there are courses at AU that may help prepare a student for entry into one of these professional programs. Students should research the requirements for the allied health field they are interested in pursuing, and then arrange to meet with a member of the AU Health Advisory Committee to discuss how AU can support them in this goal.
