*To comply with the United States government's financial regulations for F-1 visa students, Alfred University requires proof of full financial support for each admitted F-1 student. The following documents must be submitted to the Office of Admissions in order to receive the Form I-20 from Alfred University: Alfred University Financial Statement with an official stamp from a notary or bank. The student's sponsor must complete this form. An official letter from your sponsor's bank indicating sufficient funds (officially translated into English), OR An official letter from your government or sponsoring organization indicating the terms and amount of financial support
Freshman & Transfer - Academic Requirements To be a qualified applicant, you should present academic records that include a minimum of 16 academic units. Depending on the college or school to which you apply, the required distribution is as follows:
Graduate Academic Requirements Applicants must provide official transcripts (in English) of all previous work at the college level, including proof that he/she holds the baccalaureate degree equivalent to a U.S. 4-year degree). The baccalaureate degree must be appropriate to the particular course of study and be considered legitimate preparation for the field of study to which the student is being admitted. Some students may be accepted with the condition that undergraduate coursework be completed. A 3.0/4.0 (65% OR greater)GPA or better is recommended. Each program have their own academic requirements. Any translated record should be literal, not interpretive, and must be accompanied by a copy of the original document. The only acceptable translations are those conducted and certified by the issuing institution, or by one of the following evaluation services: A 3.0/4.0 (65% OR greater)GPA or better is recommended. Consideration will be given to graduate work done at other accredited institutions. Such credit must be in courses which were clearly at the graduate level with a grade of B or better, and appropriate to the student's Alfred University program of study. Transfer credits must fit within the six consecutive calendar years of a student's academic program. The student's advisor and program department chairperson or program director must approve each transfer credit. Normally the maximum number of credits which may be transferred is six credits for M.A., M.S. or M.S. in Ed. degrees, and twenty credits in doctoral programs. No transfer of credit is permitted for the M.F.A. degree. Freshman & Transfer - English Language Proficiency Test Scores English Language Requirement The language of instruction at Alfred University is English. All undergraduate international applicants are required to submit official scores from the SAT I, the ACT or TOEFL examinations. Alfred University reserves the right to request the applicant to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores from any international student if their SATI or ACT scores are inconclusive.

Important Words Defined Secondary Studies: Also known in the United States as high school studies. The level of education that you complete before entering into a college or university. In most countries the final three, four, or five years of study before entering into a university or college are Secondary Studies. Official Record: An official record or document must have fresh ink printing, signature, stamp or a raised seal to certify that its content is true. A photocopy of a record or document without fresh ink signature or a fax is NOT considered official.

After the enrollment deposit, the Evidence of Financial Support and for Transfer students, the Alfred University Transfer form is received Alfred University will prepare an I-20 to be sent to your mailing address listed on the application.
