Free Summer Concert Series Opens in Angelica
Country-Western & honky-tonk band "The Backsliders"
When: Sunday, July 5, 2009 4 p.m.
BBQ Pulled Pork dinner begins at 3 p.m.
Where: Angelica Sweet Shop
44 West Main St., Angelica, NY
THE BACKSLIDERS are singer/guitarist Jim Schleich and bassist Eric Huppert. Their performances highlight songs from commercial country music's classic era: the 1950's and '60's. As archivists, they research the legendary singers and songwriters of the era and perform semi-acoustic renditions of their works, both familiar and obscure. Influences range from Hank Snow to Merle Haggard, Ray Price and even a bit of Elvis!
This free concert will take place outdoors; bring a lawn chair, your dancing shoes and a friend. In case of rain, the event will move indoors at 22 W. Main St., the future home of Black-Eyed Susan Acoustic Café.
For more information call 585-466-7070 or visit www.angelicasweetshop.com.

Fiske Guide rates AU as ’best buy,’ one of 44 in the nation
Alfred University is one of only 44 colleges and universities included in the 2010 edition of Fiske's 2010 Top Financial Finds on the College Tuition Market.
To select the schools, "Fiske researchers combined the cost data with academic and other life-style information about each college and university to determine what institutions offer really remarkable educational opportunities at a relatively modest cost."
