Jason Lockner was appointed head coach of men’s lacrosse
at Alfred University in the fall of 2005. Lockner came
to AU from Alfred State College, where he served as head
men’s lacrosse coach from 1997-2005.
In eight seasons at Alfred State, Lockner guided the Pioneers to a 75-40 overall
record. In each of the last seven seasons, Alfred State was nationally ranked
among National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) teams. He guided
the team to a 10-6 record this fall as the Pioneers finished the year ranked
ninth in the country. In each of the past five seasons, the Pioneers have posted
10 or more victories.
In 2001, Lockner was named NJCAA Region III and National
Coach of the Year. He coached eight All-Americans and
more than 20 All-Region III and Academic All-Americans
during his tenure at Alfred State.
Lockner was an All-Region and All-American defenseman
as well as an Academic All-American while playing at
Corning Community College, where he earned an associate’s
degree in liberal arts in 1991. He transferred to SUNY
Cortland, where he was a two-year starter and the team
leader in ground balls. He earned a bachelor’s degree
in health science from Cortland in 1994 and a master’s
degree in education from Cortland in 2000.
Prior to taking the head coaching job at Alfred State,
Lockner served as assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Cortland
from 1993-96. At Alfred State, he also served as men’s
soccer coach and has been physical education instructor.
