Scott Miller was appointed
head men’s soccer coach at Alfred University
prior to the 2004 season.
He is a 1996 graduate of Alfred University, with a bachelor’s degree
in business administration. He was a four-year starting midfielder on the AU
soccer team from 1992-95, earning NCAA Division III Regional All-American honors
in 1993 and 1995 and Empire Athletic Association all-conference honors from
1993-95. He ranks second all-time at Alfred in career assists and third in
career points.
After graduating from Alfred, Miller played professionally for three years.
He played for the Rochester Rhinos of the United Soccer Leagues (USL) in 1997
and with the USL’s Division 3 Vermont Voltage and Arizona Sahuaros in
1998 and 1999, respectively.
A native of Rochester, Miller has held numerous coaching positions at the club
and collegiate levels. He served one season (1996) as assistant men’s
soccer coach at Norwich (VT) University and was preseason assistant coach of
the men’s and women’s soccer teams at SUNY Plattsburgh in 1998.
He trained players for the Paradise Valley Soccer Club in Phoenix, AZ, from
1998-99 and from 2000-01 was a coach and trainer for National Capital Soccer
League (NCSL) boys teams in the DC Stoddert Soccer League (DCSSL), a prestigious
youth soccer organization in Washington, D.C. In 2002, Miller served as an
assistant coach in the Olympic Development Program of the Virginia Youth Soccer
Association. He spent three seasons (2001-03) as an assistant coach of men’s
soccer at Division I George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
Miller came to Alfred after serving from 2003-04 as youth director for Curt
Onalfo Soccer, a training and instructional school for youth soccer players
in northern Virginia and Washington D.C. |
