Orientation: Campus Check-In

Make this your very first stop on campus. Come get all of your business taken care of at this one-stop shop for your room keys, ID card, schedule and vehicle registration. We can’t wait to welcome you and get you started on the right foot.

Public Notice of Dissertation Defense
(9:30 AM - 11:30 AM)
Lena Marie Fantuzzi-Chapman, doctoral candidate in the Division of Counseling and School Psychology within the College of Professional Studies, will defend her dissertation research entitled, "The Relationship Between the Home Literacy Environment, Family Background, Parent-Child Attachment, and Parent Behaviors on Children’s Early Reading Skills.
The presentation is on Thursday, 8/23/12, at 9:30 a.m. in room 404 of the Science Center. This presentation is open to the public and all are invited to attend.

All students and family members are invited to join the campus for our annual kick-off picnic.
Orientation: General College Sessions - Required

Parents and students meet the college dean and enjoy some desserts. This will be followed by an advising session for students only. Parents are encouraged to attend the Parents’ Orientation Program at 3 p.m.

Orientation: Parents’ Orientation
(3:00 PM - 4:30 PM)
Parents will hear from Dr. Charles Edmondson, Alfred University President; Kathy Woughter, Vice President for Student Affairs; Dr. Norman Pollard, Dean of Students; and Katie Rommel-Esham, President of the Parents’ Association. Afterward, talk one-on-one with other administrators representing a variety of resources and support services.
Orientation: Free Time and Good-byes

This is the ideal time to finish moving into your room and saying good-bye to your family.

Come and experience all the delicious entrees available to you on a daily basis.
Orientation: First-Year Hall Meeting (Required)

A special gathering to meet your hall staff and fellow residents, review important University policies, and discuss expectations for community living.
Orientation: Transfer & Commuter Student Reception
(7:30 PM - 8:30 PM)
Meet other transfer and commuter students and helpful staff who will discuss services and programs of particular interest to you.

Playfair is a huge interactive party hosted by returning students. AU students often list Playfair as one of their most memorable Orientation experiences.
