Union University Church Annual Luncheon and Bazaar

- Location: Church Center, corner of Church & Main St., Alfred
(11:00 AM - 1:30 PM)
The annual Union University Church luncheon and bazaar will be held this Friday, Dec. 6. More than 20 varieties of soup will be available, along with sandwiches and delicious pies.

Before or after lunch, shop for crafts, decorations, baked goods, candy, or deli items. We hope you’ll join us for this traditional community event.

Doors open at 11 a.m. and lunch is served until 1:30 p.m.

Alfred University Yoga Club

Join Alfred University’s Yoga Club in meditative practices, such as yoga, T’ai Chi, and meditation, every Friday (except those before breaks) at 5 p.m. in Miller 301. Open to all!

Taize Prayer Service

Then join the Newman Club for Taize Prayer in the Keynon/Allen Room on Dec. 6 at 5 P.M.

Taize is a meditative way of singing hymns and prayers usually sung in candle light.

Students at the School of Art and Design, Division of Sculpture Dimensional Studies present, Post Present, a halfway point exhibition of this very important year for all of them. These talented students will be showing their works of art in a historic former post office building in downtown Hornell.

An opening reception with refreshments and snacks will be sponsored by St. Ann’s Academy from 6 to 8 P.M. on Friday, Dec. 6.

The show will be open from noon-5 p.m. until Tuesday, Dec. 10.

The title of the show, "Post Present," describes this exhibition as a jumping off point as well as practice leading up to the senior and master thesis shows in May 2014.

There will be two second-year graduate students and 18 senior students presenting their work in "Post Present." This exhibition will consist of unique, conceptual works of art that include an array of different materials ranging from ice sculptures to video projections. Other works of art will be composed of forest matter, glass, metal, wood, fabric, clay, and printmaking. Not only will there be numerous installations consisting of these materials, students have also made extra work to sell during this exhibition.

We welcome the public and encourage anyone and everyone to come down and enjoy an evening of fine art created by hard working practicing artists from Alfred University.

Informal Dance Showing

- Location: CD Smith Theater downstairs in Miller 1

Its Here! The Informal Dance Showings on Thursday, Dec. 5 and Friday Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. in CD Smith Theater.

This is an opportunity for any dancer/choreographer on campus to show their work or work in progress. There will be dances from the Composition 1 course, from independent choreographers, documentation from Letter to the World III, and from AU’s dance clubs. Each night has a different line up.

Free admission and come early because this show fills up quickly!

Please join us by donating clothing to the local needy.

Boxes with Newman Club labels will be placed in every lounge of each residence hall for collection of donations.

Donations will be sent to local Catholic Charities.
