Gertz Distinguished Speaker Bernadette Wegenstein

- Location: Holmes Auditorium, Harder Hall

Bernadette Wegenstein, associate professor in the Department of Media Study, University at Buffalo, and a visiting associate professor in the Department of German and Romance Languages and Literatures, The Johns Hopkins University, will present "The Cosmetic Gaze: Body Modification and the Construction of Beauty." Admission is free.

SOE Faculty Candidate - Dr. Shandon D. Hart

Dr. Hart is delivering the SOE Graduate Seminar on Monday, April 14, 2008 in Binns-Merrill Hall, room 106 at 4:30 p.m. His talk is entitled "Viscous Microcomposites: Formation Thermodynamics and Case Studies in Optics & Optoelectronics". Please see attached for his abstract.

Speaker: Africa Bridge Founder, Barry Childs

Between 2000 and 2001, Barry Childs conducted over 70 interviews with Africans: children, people living with HIV/AIDS, health care workers, government officials, journalists, educators, consultants, non-governmental organizations, and members of the business community to assess the needs of African leaders in fighting HIV/AIDS. Out of those interviews came Africa Bridge, the organization he founded that is devoted to developing innovative approaches to helping those affected by HIV/AIDS.
