Monday, April 28, 5 p.m. at the Women’s Leadership Center.
Dr. Mallika Sarabhai is one of the most well-known and well-regarded classical Indian dancers in the world. She is also a passionate advocate for social justice issues, including the ongoing problem of violence against women.
Using stage performance and television to educate and communicate, Sarabhai melds her activism and art in inspiring ways. Sarabhai’s work is based in the Indian state of Gujarat, a site of ongoing religious and political conflict. Her work is therefore both ground-breaking and courageous.
