Lemurs are a unique group of primates found on the African Island of Madagascar. By following the occurrence and inheritance of genetic mutations, Leslie constructed a phylogenetic tree that illustrates the evolutionary relationships between species of lemurs. She will describe how one conducts this type of evolutionary analysis and discuss the implications of her work on both the evolutionary relationships with lemurs and on conservation efforts in the highly threatened ecosystem of Madagascar.
