The Cultural Bowl

(11:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Alfred, New York-Asians in America and the Institute for Culture Unity (ICU) will present the "Cultural Bowl," a community-based charity event that aims to raise funds for local shelters: New Hope Animal Shelter and Alfred Housing Committee, on Friday, February 24th from 12-4p.m. located in Powell Campus Center’s Knight Club.

The Cultural Bowl will combine handmade ceramic bowls from artists directed by Alfred University Junior, Takumi Morozumi, along with donated family-style meals from local community members, students, and faculty alike. Bowls will have a suggested price of $10, which will include food donated by community members.

Asians in America and the ICU are asking those the community to help them make this event as successful as possible by attending the event to help raise funds for these charities. The most helpful way to participate is by donating a signature dish that represents who they are as a familial or cultural identity.

Alfred University students, Nermin Moustafa, Senior; Jessica Cheng, Junior; Takumi Morozumi along with the guidance of Nick Labate, former Alfred University student and founder of Empty Bowls, hope this event can not only bring the community together but also to give back to our local organizations.

For further information about participating or donating, please email Please look forward to February 24th! We hope to see you all there!
