Foster
Lake is a lovely, 25-acre wilderness lake atop Jericho
Hill, about 5 minutes from Alfred University. Acquired
by the University in 2002, Foster Lake is part of a 220-acre
site available for academic use by the university and for
recreational use by the community. An annual
access pass may be obtained to
use the property. Alfred University students are entitled
to a discounted fee.
Recreational activities at the lake include
swimming under lifeguard supervision, fishing, bird watching,
canoeing and small craft sailing. Recreational trails,
picnic areas and limited camping sites circle the lake.
The adjoining woods are moderate to heavy, thanks to reforestation
efforts that began in 1950.
