Western New York boasts an abundance of cultural and recreational opportunities. We have provided a selected sampling for you to begin exploring.
Alfred Village Bandstand - built by the community 20 years ago and refurbished, the bandstand is the site of weekly concerts during the summer, as well as drama and dance performances, not to mention Frisbee games on a sunny day.
Schein-Joseph International Museum of Ceramic Art
The Terra Cotta - the former showroom of the Celadon Terra Cotta Company has been converted into a small museum. The Celadon company made tiles (still visible on many Alfred rooftops) from clay in the local Kanakadea Creek.
Additional museums and galleries can be found using the Sightseeing links below.
Bromley-Daggett Equestrian Center located at Maris Cuneo Equine Park
Phillips Creek State Forest - offers a marked and mapped trail system for hiking, nordic skiing and horseback riding. The entrance to the park is 10 minutes from downtown Alfred on Rte 244.
Pine Hill Trails - 2.5 miles of densely wooded, hillside trails just behind the AU campus.
