Alfred University is a private institution. However, some of our academic programs receive support from New York State resulting in individual programs with different tuition structures. Stated below is Alfred University's anticipated tuition structure by individual programs, and where applicable, by NY State residency status, for the 2013-14 academic year.

Part-time tuition & fee
Part-time tuition rates (<12 credits per semester) for 2013-14 are $902 per credit hour. The part-time student service fee for 2013-14 is $160 per year.
Room & Meal Plan
On-Campus Housing (double room) $6,020 per year
Most freshmen live on campus in a traditional style residence hall double room. A limited number of single rooms are available at $6,630 per year.
On-campus freshman and transfer students may choose from several different meal plan options ranging in cost from $5,262 to $5,598 per year. The full meal plan ($5,598) is used in financial aid budgets. If eligible, upperclassman students may elect to accommodate off campus living arrangements.
Off-Campus Living Average Cost $11,618 per year
Students living off-campus (not with parents) are provided the above estimated average cost for room and meal expense planning and it is used for financial aid budgets.
Off-campus students may elect to purchase a meal plan. The least expensive available plan starts at $2,216 per year in 2013-14.

Actual expenses for books, supplies, and personal needs may vary widely among students. These expenses will be dependent on life style, personal choice, major, travel distance to school and other factors.
*Art and Design students are charged an additional mandatory $20 annual wood shop fee and should plan on a higher amount for books and supplies.
Notes:
Tuition fees, room and meal plan charges are determined by the Alfred University Board of Trustees. Over the past several years annual tuition and fee increases have been in the 3-4% range, and room and meal plan increases have been in the 0-4% range. Tuition, fees, and room charges are actual for 2013-14. Meal plans are estimated. However, final meal plan cost will be very close.
