Graduate School : Education
The Education Division at Alfred University adheres to the guiding principals and standards set by the New York State Department of Education. Our program provides students with
- The knowledge and competence to meet New York State pedagogical standards;
- Breadth and depth of knowledge in content areas;
- Strong communication skills and their use in the classroom;
- An understanding of the developmental stages of the learner;
- An understanding of the social context of education and schools;
- Effective classroom management techniques;
- Motivational principles, multiple approaches to instruction, use of technology, and the ability to facilitate active learning and student achievement;
- Principles and procedures of an organization, implementation of lessons, and methods for helping learners achieve intended objectives.
