Graduate School : School Psychology

Alfred University's School Psychology program prepares professional psychologists to work with children and adults who impact children in school, family, and mental health settings.

  • APA (American Psychological Association) accredited doctoral program
  • NASP (National Association of School Psychologists) approved specialist program

Our students are trained in:

  • Assessment and intervention with both educational and psychological problems
  • Counseling, psychotherapy, and family systems  
  • Consultation with parents, teachers, and organizational systems
  • Research methods
  • Program design and evaluation

These skills are taught within an educational context that promotes respect and appreciation for individual, family, and cultural diversity.  Through a process of individual feedback and goal-setting, students acquire the applied skills and self-awareness to become independently functioning professionals.
