Position Title: Assistant Sculpture Foundry Technician

and Grade:
Part Time Temporary Support Staff Position

Location: Sculpture/ Dimensional Studies, School of Art and Design

and Duties:
Assist with the oversight of the safe operation of the School of Art and Design’s Sculpture/Dimensional Studies Foundry at the National Casting Center. The Assistant Technician will assist in all areas of the foundry operation including, maintenance of equipment, cleaning of facilities, stocking tools and materials, and assisting with the proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations under direction of the Health, Safety and Environmental Department at Alfred University.
Requirements: Formal Education: High School Diploma required, BFA preferred

Experience: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency, and technical knowledge with a wide variety of foundry equipment and casting operations, general equipment maintenance, and able to meet health and safety requirements.

Additional Knowledge/ Skills: Must be well organized, and able to work with a wide range of people (faculty, students, staff) with a variety of skill levels. Must be familiar with and knowledgeable of the health and safety standards in the metal casting field.
