Position Title: Assistant Wood Shop Technician

Responsibilities
and Duties:
Assist in oversight and management of the School of Art and Design’s wood shop, including supervising open Wood Shop hours. Assist in the development of training programs and demonstrations on the proper and safe use of wood shop equipment to students, faculty, and staff of the School of Art and Design. Develop and oversee a schedule of weekly "open shop" hours and training sessions each semester. Preside over weekly open shop hours, provide technical assistance to shop patrons, and enforce proper and safe usage of equipment. Provide other assistance as needed in the Wood Shop and the Division of Sculpture/ Dimensional Studies.
   
Requirements: Formal Education: High School Diploma required, MFA preferred

Experience: Experience, proficiency, and technical knowledge with a wide variety of woodworking equipment and woodshop operation, maintenance, and health and safety requirements. Organizational/ managerial experience preferred.

Additional Knowledge/ Skills: Must be well organized, and able to work with a wide range of people (faculty, students, staff) with a variety of skill levels. Must be familiar with and update knowledge of the health and safety standards in the woodworking field.
