Position Title: Assistant/Associate Professor of Glass

This is the second of two faculty positions in Glass being searched in the School of Art and Design at Alfred University.

The School of Art and Design in the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University is excited to invite an exceptional artist educator for a full-time, tenure track, faculty position in Glass as part of the Sculpture/ Dimensional Studies Division, beginning fall 2014. The School of Art and Design is looking for a team member with vision for the future of glass with the leadership and collaborative skills to work across all areas of the glass discipline. The Glass area in Sculpture has recently renovated the glass foundry, neon light laboratory, and glassblowing studio. This position offers unique opportunities to develop programming in conjunction with the School of Art and Design, the National Casting Center, and the School of Engineering.

The successful candidate will become part of a progressive, successful, and growing, nationally ranked Glass Sculpture program and will have the opportunity to develop programs, curricula and facilities. Duties will include teaching three classes per semester, both undergraduate and graduate level courses in Glass, encompassing a breadth of approaches to the material. The successful candidate will also maintain an active involvement in creative activities, exhibition and/or publication. Faculty members participate in undergraduate academic advising, provide guidance in facility development and contribute to faculty governance within the School, the College, and the University.
Requirements: Required qualifications
• MFA or equivalent experience in the field
• Creative productivity appropriate to a tenure track faculty position
• Ability to work collaboratively within the division, the school, the university, and the community; to communicate with and mentor students on all levels; and a drive to develop the program is essential
• Ability to collaborate with faculty and technicians to maintain facilities in the glass area
• Experience teaching and advising graduate students

Preferred qualifications
• Experience teaching and working with Glass Casting
