International Students : Orientation

Niagra FallsWhen you arrive to Alfred we want to make sure you will adapt to your surroundings as quickly and easily as possible.   During your first few days here, we will host an international student orientation to help you get acclimated to the area.  The orientation will include taking care of all your paperwork, introducing you to the services on campus, showing you how to take local public transportation, and more.  Our schedule varies from semester to semester, but past orientations have included a welcome dinner, movie night, campus tour, scavenger hunt, trip to Hornell, and a trip to Niagara Falls (no additional visas are required as you will be staying on the American side) depending on the season.

You may also participate in the regular New Student Orientation (required for all regularly enrolled first year students).  Your acceptance packet will indicate whether you are required to attend.  Whether or not you are required to attend, the events are fun and it’s a good way to meet people and learn more about the campus. For more information on the New Student Orientation, visit: http://my.alfred.edu/index.cfm/fuseaction/orientation.index.cfm

Both of these orientations will be held a few days before the rest of the Alfred University community returns to campus for classes, so you will have a few days to get used to the campus and learn about the area before starting your semester.

Please note: You must have the following with you when you arrive at Alfred University: Traveling Funds, I-20 or DS-2019, Visa and Passport, Health Form, and Emergency Contact Form.

More information about the international orientation will be sent to you in your acceptance packet.
