Visiting professor puts focus on renewable energy findings

 Xuesong Li, visiting professor in Alfred University’s (AU) Kazuo Inamori School of Engineering and celebrated Chinese renewable energy expert, gave a major presentation titled “Farmers’ Willingness in Transforming Traditional Houses to Solar Houses in Rural China – Surveying 456 Households Surrounding Chongqing,” and continued his research on the feasibility of solar houses throughout the fall 2012 semester.

Alumnus, trustee heads national leadership honor society

Michael Christakis, AU Class of 1999, assistant vice president for Student Success at the University at Albany (NY), has been named national president of the 300,000-member leadership honor society Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK).

Houston lawyer, alumnus is ‘Go-To’ guy

Stan Schneider, AU Class of 1971, has recently been named the “Go-To” Criminal Defense Lawyer in Texas by Texas Lawyer Magazine.

Alumna one of numerous Peace Corps volunteers from Ithaca, NY area

WASHINGTON, D.C., Dec. 12, 2012 – The Ithaca, NY region tops the 2012 list of metropolitan areas in the U.S. with the highest per capita number of Peace Corps volunteers.  leven (11) currently serving Peace Corps volunteers call Tompkins County home, making it the number three Peace Corps volunteer-producing metropolitan area in the nation on a per capita basis.  One of them is Catherine "Kate" Stalter, AU Class of 2005, currently a volunteer in Ghana teaching creative arts at a school for the deaf.

Alumnus receives recognition for sustainable technology efforts

Matthew Corson-Finnerty, AU Class of 2007, was recently featured on the Internet video channel “Peak Moment: Locally Reliant Living” for his efforts to improve human-powered sustainable technology.
