Fosdick-Nelson Gallery hosts glass installation artists

Alfred University’s Fosdick-Nelson Gallery, Harder Hall, will host the opening of an exhibition featuring the work of two glass installation artists, Æsa Björk and Hiromi Takizawa, with a reception Friday, Jan. 25 from 7  to 9 p.m. The public is invited.

Visiting sculptor to present talk on his work as artist/lecturer

Alfred University’s Division of Sculpture/Dimensional Studies presents an artist talk with Ben Woodeson, the Division’s Theodore Randall International Chair, on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 6:30  p.m. in Nevins Theater, Powell Campus Center. The program is open to the public; admission is free.

Rebecca Foley, 21, daughter of Jennifer Molin Foley ’89, was killed Monday in Savannah, GA, outside the apartment where she lived. Rebecca, 21, was a student at Savannah State University.

Alumnus’ work appears in ‘dirty windows’

Works by Patrick Brennan, AU class of 1998, along with pieces by Jean-Baptiste Bernadet, appear in “dirty windows” through Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at toomer labzda, 100a Forsyth St., East Village/Lower East Side, New York.

Alumna guest curates longest-running exhibit of contemporary ceramics; includes work by fellow alumna

“Denaturing Nature,” an exhibition by guest curator Virginia Scotchie, AU class of 1985, at the Scripps College (Claremont, CA) Ceramics Annual, opens Saturday, Jan. 26 and runs through Sunday, April 7, at the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery, Eleventh Street and Columbia Avenue. Included in the exhibit is work by Alexandra Hibbitt, AU class of 2001. Virginia, professor of art and head of ceramics at the University of South Carolina, will give a lecture at 4 p.m. opening day.

Alumna’s western Pennsylvania photography on display

The latest photography of Amelia Patsy, AU class of 2010, is now on display at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Johnstown, PA, now through July 6, 2013. “An Industrial Revolution: The Photography of Amelia Patsy” is a collection of 55 gelatin silver prints and cyanotypes.

Career Center to host annual Internship & Summer Job Fair

Alfred University’s (AU) Career Development Center will host its annual Internship & Summer Job Fair from noon – 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 in the Powell Campus Center Knight Club.
