Alfred University's MFA in ceramic art tops in nation

U.S. News and World Report has again ranked the Master of Fine Arts program in ceramic art at Alfred University tops in the nation as it has every time it has ranked graduate programs in fine arts.

Sunday afternoon concert to feature violin/piano repertoire

Violinist Lisa Lantz, associate professor of music performance, Division of Performing Arts at Alfred University (AU), and Pianist David Peter Coppen, Special Collections librarian and archivist of the Sibley Music Library, Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, will perform favorite works from the violin/piano repertory on stage in Miller Theater on the AU campus, Sunday afternoon, March 24, at 3.

Faculty member, student honored with village Spirit Award

Becky Prophet, professor of theater at Alfred University (AU), and Zachary Mazejka, an AU student, are recipients of the 2013 Alfred Community Coalition’s Spirit of Service Award for their outstanding contributions to the greater Alfred community.

Alfred University swim teams offering lessons for children

Alfred University’s (AU) Men’s and Women’s swim teams will be instructing swimming lessons for children in the community aged 4 – 13, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, for three weeks beginning Monday, March 25. Classes will be conducted at the McLane Center pool from through Thursday April 11, 2013.

When it came time to present its top national scholarship – a $15,000 award – the Ellwood Group, Incorporated, (EGI) found itself in an unlikely location – the Kazuo Inamori School of Engineering at Alfred University, a place internationally renowned for its work in ceramics and glass.
