December fine art candidates display work this Saturday

The School of Art and Design at Alfred University (AU) will feature works by candidates for bachelor of fine arts degrees in ceramic art, sculpture, glass, painting, photography, video, and sonic arts and graphic design on Saturday, Dec. 7 in the Robert C. Turner Gallery, Harder Hall, on campus. Opening receptions will be held from 4-7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

'Post Present': glimpse of future senior/master's show works

There will be an opening reception for “Post Present,” a collection of student artwork from the School of Art and Design, Division of Sculpture Dimensional Studies at Alfred University, Friday, Dec. 6, from 6-8 p.m., at the Old Post Office, 50 Seneca St., Hornell.

Students in interdisciplinary art present two-day exhibit

Students in Alfred University’s (AU) Interdisciplinary Art (IART) program, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will be hosting an exhibition featuring their work in the Brick Studios, the Brick Residence Hall, Thursday and Friday, Dec. 4 and 5 from noon-5 p.m. The show is open to the public free of charge.

Symphony Orchestra holiday concert to feature cello, bugle

Audience members will hear an evening of eclectic music as the Alfred University (AU) Symphony Orchestra, directed by Dr. Lisa Lantz, presents its 2013 holiday concert on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Miller Theater, Miller Performing Arts Center. The program is open to the public free of charge.

Alumna’s work included in two exhibits

Engineer-turned-artist Bette Blank, AU Class of 1962, has recently had her work included in two major art exhibits.

Alumnus named president/CEO of non-profit health center

James Cummings, AU Class of 1983, has been hired as the president and chief executive officer of Oak Orchard Health, a non-profit health center.

Littell publishes latest thriller novel

Robert Littell, AU Class of 1956, has published his most recent novel, titled “A Nasty Piece of Work.”

Alumnus exhibits new steel sculpture at Omaha gallery

Paul Konchagulian, AU Class of 1988, has an exhibition of his new work on display at The Sunderland, St. Cecilia Cathedral’s Arts Project Gallery, in Omaha, NE.
