Students and alumni will perform five exchange concerts at three Chinese universities while on a 16-day tour. The group poses with guzhengs (Chinese zither) which will be played during performances.

Music students on cultural exchange visit

This month, 19 Alfred University (AU) students and alumni will be on a 16-day tour of China, co-sponsored by the Confucius Institute at the University and the AU Study Abroad program. The group will visit five cities and perform exchange concerts at three institutions during the tour.

Alumnae works featured in four-artist show

Nadine Saylor, AU Class of 2007, and Lisa Demagall ’11 are both showing new works in “Breaking Through: Moving 4ward” at the Hodge Gallery, Pittsburgh Glass Center. Nadine and Lisa are participating in a four-artist exhibit running through July 20, 2014. The artists were featured in an article by Kurt Shaw which ran in the online version of the Pittsburgh Tribune May 10.

Track and field teams make mark at modified meet in Wellsville

Art professor's work shown at international short film festival

A real-time, image-processed video work, “Back Hand Front Hand” by Peer D. Bode, professor of video art in the School of Art and Design at Alfred University (AU), was shown at the 60th Oberhausen International Short Film Festival in the Lichtpalast Cinema in the Filmpasast, Oberhausen, Germany. The work was distributed by the Video Data Bank (VDB), Chicago.

Ceramics Division offering variety of summer clay workshops for art students

Ben Howard, professor emeritus of English at Alfred University (AU), has published a new book, “The Backward Step,” his second collection of essays on Zen practice.

AU to host summer youth soccer camp

Alfred University will host a soccer camp for youngsters in two age groups this summer.

The Western New York Soccer Academy will hold the camp on the AU campus the week of June 30-July 4. It will be offered in two groups: boys and girls ages 4-7; and boys and girls ages 8-16.
