Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs, founders of an eponymous luxury home goods firm that is one of the most enduring brands in what can be a mercurial field, will deliver the address at Alfred University’s 181st commencement, to be held at 10 a.m. May 13 in the Galanis Family Arena at McLane Center on the Alfred University campus

Alfred area loses a legend

The Alfred area has lost a legend: Bill Castle, a 1988 graduate of Alfred University and creator of Pollywogg Holler, a gathering place for Alfred University students and alumni for more 30 years. 

‘The British Are Humming:’ Alfred University’s choral concert features work by British composers

Matthew Finley, a third-year engineering student at Alfred University, started thinking about living off the grid when he was in his freshman year.

By the end of his sophomore year, he had refined his idea to the point of imagining himself living in a “tiny house” – a modern, energy-efficient structure generally occupying less than 500 square feet of floor space.

Alfred University seniors Cheyenne Rainford and Quintin Reed have been named recipients of the 2017 Marlin Miller Outstanding Senior Award. Both students will be honored at Alfred University’s spring commencement ceremony on May 13 and will address the graduating class, faculty, administration, trustees, and guests.

Dr K? That's Susan Kelleher '91 Fourth season of 'Dr. K's Exotic Animal ER' premiers Saturday

The fourth season of "Dr. K's Exotic Animal ER" premiers this at 10 p.m. this Saturday, April 22, on Nat Geo Wild.   For those who don’t know, Dr. K is Susan Kelleher, DVM, a 1991 alumna of Alfred University (and subject of a feature story in the next Alfred Magazine.)

Alfred University senior Audrey An has been awarded a Windgate Fellowship from The Center for Craft, Creativity & Design, based in Ashville N.C. An is one of ten outstanding senior craft art students in the U.S. chosen for the fellowship.

Goodman book surveys present, future of journalism education

Global Journalism Education in the 21st Century: Challenges and Innovations, edited by Alfred University Professor of Communication Studies Robyn Goodman, and co-edited by Elanie Steyn of the University of Oklahoma, will be launched April 21 at the start of the International Symposium on Online Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin.

Alfred University Library/Sociology collaboration noted in NMC Horizon Report

The recently published 2017 NMC Horizon Report Library Edition references an article co-authored by Alfred University Information Literacy Librarian Brian Sullivan and Alfred University Professor of Sociology Karen Porter that appeared in the January 2016 issue of College and Research Libraries News.
