Engineering council recognizes design work for Alfred University’s Inamori Museum

The architects and engineers for the Inamori Kyocera Museum of Fine Ceramics at Alfred University (AU) were recognized by the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York) for their design of engineering systems that make the museum function.

Pollard to speak on hazing at Cornell University

Norman Pollard, dean of students at Alfred University and co-author of two seminal studies on hazing, will be among the panelists for the inaugural “Daily Sun Dialogues” hosted by the Cornell Daily Sun, a student-run, independent newspaper at Cornell University.  The discussion is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, Nov. 13) in Plant Sciences, room 203.

Performing Arts stages gender-bender comedy production

The Alfred University (AU) Division of Performing Arts presents playwright Jane Martin’s “Anton in Show Business,” Wednesday through Saturday, Nov. 14-17, in the C.D. Smith III Theatre, Miller Performing Arts Center complex. Curtain up is 8 p.m.

Corning West junior wins senior contest at Alfred University’s annual math competition

Matt Dobbins, a junior from Corning-Painted Post West High School, placed first in the Senior Competition at the 44th Annual W. Varick Nevins III High School Mathematics Competition at Alfred University (AU) Nov. 12. The competition was open to high school students in Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Alumnus opens new ceramics exhibit

Yoshinaga Kawamura, AU Class of 2003, opened a joint ceramics exhibit with artist Kris Marubayashi, Nov. 10 at the KOBO Gallery in Seattle, WA.

Alumna set to display art in several shows

Eileen P. Goldenberg, AU Class of ’74, will be at the “Celebration of Craftswomen” show Nov. 24-25, Booth 303, Fort Mason, Herbst Pavilion, San Francisco.
