AU People

AU People David Bachrach, a 1994 Alfred University alumnus, received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Studies. Currently, Bachrach is the director of Management Services for FYI, Inc. in Calverton, MD. He provides legal, human resource, finance, and administrative services to the clients who need to supplement their in-house resources. Bachrach also works directly with the hiring managers and human resource offices to “help make their hiring processes faster, more effective, and more focused on a positive applicant experience.” Bachrach’s one-on-one interview with the dean and the close intimate setting of Alfred made him feel wanted on campus. “…and I try to do the same thing to help these giant organizations (Lockheed Martin and the Labor Department, among them) to make space for people to feel appreciated individually,” said Bachrach. Bachrach has several fond memories from attending AU. “I loved the clear skies I got to explore at the astronomy lab, I was thrilled to take a turn directing Friday Night Live in its second season, and I really enjoyed driving Adam Sandler to the airport after he and Kevin Nealon performed at AU,” says Bachrach. Bachrach’s advice for future or current AU students is to do what your good at and don’t be afraid to help with anything you can. “You get much farther in life by just paying attention to what is going on around you, following opportunities where they lead, and playing to your strengths,” says Bachrach. “Keep an open mind and enthusiastically help with anything at all that needs doing!”
