The Alfred Ceramic Art Museum will Keep Evening Hours Jan. 27

In western New York’s bleak midwinter, Alfred University’s Cohen Gallery, Fosdick-Nelson Gallery and Alfred Ceramic Art Museum are offering two exhibition openings and evening museum hours to warm the soul on Friday, Jan. 27.

The Cohen Gallery will  host “Romancing the Toaster: Works by Myles Calvert” (See accompanying story)  with an opening reception  from 6 to 8pm.

Meanwhile, the Fosdick-Nelson Gallery will host a reception for the opening of “Reel Real,” featuring five contemporary artists use trompe l’oeil drawing, painting and sculpture to reel the viewer into a questioning of reality. The artists are: Patrick Gantert, Shannon Goff, Tip Toland, Dominic Terlizzi and Marc Zajack. That reception is scheduled from 7 to 9pm, also Jan. 27. The show is curated by Chase Folsom.

The Alfred Ceramic Art Museum will be open to the public that evening free of charge with hours from 5 to 9pm. The ongoing show, Core Sample, features a range of ceramic art and artifacts from the museum’s collection.
