Performing Arts Division Hosts Dancer Mariah Maloney

Alfred University dance students practice their moves under the tutelage of Mariah Maloney.

Mariah Maloney, Artistic Director of Mariah Maloney Dance, has been teaching dance classes at Alfred University for the past week as part of the Marlin Miller Guest Artist Program. Her many master classes have included an open rehearsal and setting for a new work that will be performed by 12 Alfred University students on Feb. 16-18, with live music performed by Daisy Wu, visiting associate professor of music in the Division of Performing Arts.

 

A native of Homer, Ak., Maloney founded her company, Mariah Maloney Dance, in New York City after performing and teaching internationally with the Trisha Brown Dance Company. She is an Associate Professor at the College at Brockport, Department of Dance, and earned a BFA from Purchase College and an MFA from Hollins/ADF. In New York, she is produced at several venues including La MaMa Experimental Theatre, The Kitchen, Judson Church, and Danspace Project.  In 2012, Mariah Maloney Dance also presented an evening length concert at Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out.
