Two Alfred University alumni working in New York City hosted visits this week from seven Alfred University School of Business students, as well as Mark Lewis, Assistant Professor of Finance and Information Systems and interim director of the School of Business.

Andrew Weisman ’85, managing director of Morgan Stanley, met the students at Morgan Stanley’s Manhattan offices. The students also toured the offices of Caithness Energy LLC, where Les Gelber ‘77, president of Alfred University’s Board of Trustees, serves as president and chief operating officer.

The students -- Austin Enders, Ayden O'Brien, Vanessa Olin, Helena Opare, James Pratti, Nickolas Skibitsky, and Eric Witkowski -- also attended the annual Quinnipiac Global Asset Management Education Conference, participating in panel discussions on global investing and corporate government.

Lewis noted most of the students are members of Alfred University’s Student Managed Investment Fund, which was started 23 years ago. Alfred University trustees authorized the commitment of a $100,000 share of the university endowment for start-up capital. The fund is now worth approximately $350,000, Lewis said.
