Alfred University School of Art and Design to host annual student art shows May 6
Alfred University’s annual exhibition of graduating art students’ senior projects will be held Saturday, May 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. on the University campus.
The senior art shows highlight capstone work by candidates for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Art and Design at Alfred University. The BFA program at Alfred University is recognized as one of the finest in the U.S., and the senior art shows are a yearly tradition for showcasing the best work of the country’s best undergraduate artists.
The exhibition is also one big celebration.
Visitors include art students’ families, friends, and hundreds of art lovers from the surrounding region. The students, who will receive their Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees at Alfred University’s May 13 commencement ceremony, celebrate their own achievements with trays of food and beverages, creating a campus-wide celebration of the studio arts that is one of the unique and enduring treasures of the Alfred University experience.
The student exhibitions will include painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, electronic arts, graphic design, ceramics, glass art, and sculpture in various media including metal, wood, and paper. The artwork will be on display in Alfred University’s McGee Pavilion, Harder Hall, Binns-Merrill Hall and the Cohen Studios (the latter located at 55 N. Main St. in the Village of Alfred). Maps showing the location of the exhibitions will be available in Harder Hall.
