Still time to join Alfred University's biking alumni
It was at the dawn of the new century — 2003 to be exact — that a group of Alfred University alumni from the class of 1958 decided to start something special for their 45th college reunion. Roger Eiss, Russ Fahey, Elliott Lasky, Andy Seaman, and Dave Wilcox turned Reunion Weekend into a week-long adventure by cycling 250 miles from north of Philadelphia to Alfred, crossing the Pocono Mountains.
And a tradition was born.
The group made the ride again for its 50th reunion, and each year since 2010, the bikers have enjoyed a Reunion Bike ride. This year, numerous members of the original group, plus newer members, will repeat the trip, biking this time from Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio. Original cyclists will be joined by Tinker Wilcox ’57, Dave ’61 and Kate Perry, Larry ’68 and Denise ’69 Ploetz, Roberta Auerback ‘74, Jim Randall ’77, and Carolyn Zimlich.
Additional alumni are welcome to join the fun, taking part in the entire ride, cycling with the main group for a day or two, or meet the group for lunch, dinner or sightseeing along the way.
The cycling will begin June 4, at Geneva-on-the-Lake, then visit Erie, Pa., Letchworth State Park, and Hornell, N.Y. on the way to the 2017 Alfred University alumni reunion.
