Reclaiming the future: Alumni turn reclaimed wood into furniture
8/25/17

Alumni Matt ’07 and Sarah Baden Rink ’08, founders of New Antiquity in Bethel, CT, have just been chosen as interior architects for Nod Hill Brewery in Ridgefield, CT.

Both graduates of the School of Art and Design at Alfred University where they met, Matt and Sarah originally began making furniture for their own home from reclaimed furniture. From there, they began selling their pieces on Etsy, and eventually, established their own workshop.

As they explain, “We offer one-of-a-kind pieces made with locally salvaged reclaimed wood and sustainably harvested lumber, handmade in our workshop in Connecticut. All our creations are built and designed with clever details and fine craftsmanship that is both practical and whimsical.  From conceptual sketches to the finished piece, our skilled team is fluent across a range of aesthetic vernaculars, from classic to contemporary to eclectic, approaching each project with a sensibility toward form and function.”
