Visiting Artists series continues with lecture by Laramee

Eve Andree Laramee, explorer of the relationship between art, science and nature, will be the first speaker for the spring semester’s Visiting Artists and Speakers Series sponsored by the School of Art and Design at Alfred University.

She will deliver a lecture at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, in Holmes Auditorium, Harder Hall on the Alfred University campus.

The Visiting Artists and Speaker Series is overseen by the Visiting Artist Committee comprised of Michelle Illuminato, chair and assistant professor of foundations; Lise Lemeland, assistant professor of drawing, painting and photography; Diane Cox, assistant professor of sculpture; Ezra Shales, assistant professor of art history; Will Contino, assistant professor of print media; and Andrea Gill, professor of ceramic art.

Laramee has been exploring the mutable, triadic relationship between art, science and nature for over 20 years. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States and in Europe including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; the High Museum of Art, Atlanta; and the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, among many others.

She has received awards from the Pollock Krasner Foundation, the New York Foundation of the Arts, the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Andy Warhol Foundation.
