Indoor track and field teams compete at Kane Invitational

ITHACA, NY -- The Alfred University men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed Saturday at the Kane Invitational meet, hosted by Cornell University. There were no team scores.

Senior Erik Jezek (Orchard Park, NY/Hamburg)and juniors Lee Consolo (Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville) and Matt Phillips (Kinderhook, NY/Ichabod Crane) each had top-10 finishes to pace the AU men. Jezek took sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.88 seconds); Consolo was eighth in the 400-meter run (52.16 seconds); and Phillips was ninth in the 500-meter run (1:09.75).

Freshman Evan Roush (Newport, PA/Newport) was 11th in the triple jump (12.32 meters) and junior Jesse Schuster (Tonwanda, NY/Tonawanda) was
19th in the 3,000-meter run (9:48.80) for the Saxons.

Junior Megan Crimmins (Big Flats, NY/Horseheads) was ninth in the mile run (5:29.56) to lead the Alfred women. Sophomore Jen Chan (Angelica, NY/Genesee Valley) was 13th in the 500-meter run (1:31.57).

Alfred is in action next on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Denault Invitational, also hosted by Cornell.
