SYRACUSE, NY -- The Alfred University women's swimming and diving team placed 12th at the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) championship meet, which wrapped up Saturday at Nottingham High School in Syracuse.

AU scored 265.50 points to finish 12th out of 16 teams competing. Ithaca College won the meet and Stevens Institute of Technology was runner-up.

AU was led Saturday by sophomores Elyse Caldwell (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) and Sarah Blair (Auburn, NY/Auburn). Caldwell took seventh in 3-meter diving (299.60 points) and Blair finished 13th in the 100-yard freestyle (54.37 seconds). Senior Jessie Caccamo (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) and sophomore Calista Merritt (Conesus, NY/Livonia) were 17th (18:51.97) and 24th (19:21.35), respectively, in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

Alfred's team of Blair, freshman Donna Hoops (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo), Merritt and Caccamo took 14th in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:48.67).
