AU indoor track and field teams compete at Denault Invitational

ITHACA, NY — The Alfred University men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed Saturday at the Denault Invitational, hosted by Cornell University. There were no team scores.

Sophomore Shawn Ross (Ticonderoga, NY/Ticonderoga) placed fourth in the shot put (14.61 meters) to pace the AU men. Junior Lee Consolo (Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville) had Alfred’s other top-10 finish, taking seventh in the 400-meter run (51.31 seconds).

Junior Matt Phillips (Kinderhook, NY/Ichabod Crane) was 12th in the 300-meter run (38.74 seconds) and 13th in the 500-meter run (1:09.87), while senior Erik Jezek (Orchard Park, NY/Hamburg) was 20th in the 60-meter hurdles (9.09 seconds).

Junior Megan Crimmins (Big Flats, NY/Horseheads) led the AU women with her 12th-place finish in the 1,000-meter run (3:13.91). Sophomores Melissa Haahr (Tioga, NY/Owego) (2:37.54) and Jen Chan (Angelica, NY/Genesee Valley) (2:46.52) were 30th and 40th, respectively, in the 800-meter run, while freshman Tiffany Buck (Freeport, ME/Freeport) was 35th in the mile run (6:37.51).

Alfred is in action next on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27 and 28, at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) indoor championships, hosted by RIT.
