AU track teams compete at New York State indoor championship meet 2/28/09
Junior Lee Consolo (Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville) led the AU men with a second-place finish in the 400-meter run (50.73 seconds) on Friday. His time set a new AU school record. Sophomore Shawn Ross (Ticonderoga, NY/Ticonderoga) was second in Saturday's shot put (13.95 meters). Other top performances from the AU men were by junior Matt Phillips (Kinderhook, NY/Ichabod Crane), 10th in Saturday's 500-meter run (1:08.79); senior Erik Jezek (Orchard Park, NY/Hamburg), 11th in Friday's 55-meter hurdles (8.35 seconds); and sophomore Markenson Joseph (Brooklyn, NY/Nazareth Regional), 16th in Friday's weight throw (11.11 meters). Junior Megan Crimmins (Big Flats, NY/Horseheads) paced the AU women, posting a pair of top-10 finishes on Saturday: fifth in the mile run (5:25.91) and 10th in the 1,000-meter run (3:21.59). Sophomores Melissa Haahr (Tioga, NY/Owego) (2:36.78)and Jen Chan (Angelica, NY/Genesee Valley) (2:36.90) were 16th and 17th, respectively, in the 800-meter run. AU competes next in the ECAC indoor championships, March 6 and 7 in Boston, MA. |
