New advisory board member welcomed at Women's Leadership Center
Alfred University welcomes Dr. Nannette Stangle-Castor, AU class of ’94 from Raleigh, NC, as one of the new members of the Women’s Leadership Center (WLC) Advisory Board.
Stangle-Castor is currently a senior consultant as well as a client product manager for Fuentek, LLC in Apex, NC.
“I am thrilled that Dr. Stangle-Castor has agreed to serve on the Women’s Leadership Center Advisory Board,” said Kathy Woughter, AU vice president for Student Affairs. Woughter continued, “Her current experience, as well as her background as a student leader and sorority sister at Alfred University, will provide the advisory board with a unique perspective on leadership issues for our women students. I am looking forward to working with Nannette and incorporating her ideas and advice as we move the WLC forward.”
“I am excited about the opportunity to support the next generation of women leaders through my participation in Alfred’s WLC Advisory Board,” said Stangle-Castor. “This time in women’s lives is a critical one. By providing women with guidance, mentoring, and exposure to leadership approaches and techniques. I hope to better prepare them to make a broader impact in the world.”
Stange-Castor earned a doctorate in molecular pharmacology and cancer therapeutics at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Roswell Park Division, as well as a bachelor of arts degree in biology at Alfred University.
While at AU, Stangle-Castor was a member of the sorority Alpha Kappa Omicron, the honor society Phi Kappa Phi, received the AU Outstanding Senior Award, and the Alpha Lambda Delta Senior Certificate for having a GPA (grade point average) of 3.5 (out of a possible 4.0) or better.
While in graduate school, she received a Predoctoral Research Fellowship from the U.S. Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program from 1997-2000, and the AFLAC Scholar in Cancer Research Award from the American Association of Cancer Research in 1999.
Stangle-Castor holds membership in a number of professional organizations including the Council for Entrepreneurial Development, the Association of University Technology Managers, and the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association.
