AU’s Agro competes in 200-yard IM at NCAA Division III championship meet

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Brian Agro (Gray, ME/Cheverus), a senior at Alfred University, competed Wednesday in the 200-yard individual medley at the NCAA Division III swimming and diving championships.

Agro and senior teammate Matt Baker (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) are each competing in three events at the NCAA meet, which is being held Wednesday-Saturday, March 18-21, at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center in Minneapolis.

Agro finished 39th in the 200-yard IM, clocking in at 1:55.69 during the afternoon preliminaries. Only the top 16 in each event advance to the evening finals.

Baker will swim in the 200-yard freestyle on Thursday. Agro swims the 100-yard breaststroke and Baker competes in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday; and Agro swims the 200-yard breast and Baker the 200-yard backstroke on Saturday.

Baker is competing in NCAAs for the third time; he has earned honorable mention All-American honors in the 100-yard back in each of the last two national meets. This is Agro’s first NCAA championship meet.
