Alternative Cinema presents Tournées French Film Festival

Alternative Cinema and Alfred University welcomes The Tournées Festival of French films to campus.

The festival will start at the end of March and will continue until mid-April, presenting five films to the AU community. The festival of films will be presented on four consecutive Saturdays in Nevin’s Theater, Powell Campus Center and is open free of charge to the public.

The festival begins on March 28 with “L’origine de tendresse,” at 7 p.m. and “A Tout de Suite,” at 9 p.m. The next showings will be the films “Flanders,” on April 4 at 8 p.m., “Blame it on Fidel,” on April 11 at 8 p.m., and “Innocence,” on April 18 at 8 p.m.

Alternative Cinema was able to bring the Tournées Festival to AU through a grant from the French American Cultural Exchange (FACE). The grant was brought about to encourage schools to begin their own self-sustaining French film festivals. The Tournées Festival distributes approximately $180,000 in grants annually and has made it possible for more than 300,000 students to discover French-language films.

The Tournées Festival was made possible with the support of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the French Ministry of Culture (CNC).
