Outdoor track and field teams compete at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA – The Alfred University men’s and women’s track and field teams competed Saturday at the Slippery Rock University Invitational. There were no team scores.

Junior Lee Consolo (Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville) took second in the 400-meter run (51.47 seconds) to pace the AU men. Freshman Evan Roush (Newport, PA/Newport) was third in the triple jump (12.60 meters) and sophomore Shawn Ross (Ticonderoga, NY/Ticonderoga) was third in the shot put (14.26 meters).

Also turning in top-five performances for the AU men were: freshman Richard Scott (Eden, NY/Eden), fifth on the 400 meters (53.71 seconds), and junior Travis Cox (Ashaway, RI/Westerly), fifth in the hammer throw (41.9 meters).

Junior Megan Crimmins (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) was second in the 3,000-meter run (11:23.58) to lead the Alfred women. Freshman Elisabeth Phillips-Jones (Watertown, MA/Watertown) was fourth (11:45.25) and sophomore Jen Chan (Angelica, NY/Genesee Valley) was fifth (12:00.35) in the 3,000 meters. Junior Megan McKee (Rush, NY/Rush-Henrietta) was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:59.37).

Alfred is in action next on Saturday, April 18, at the Empire 8 Conference championship meet in Pittsford, NY, hosted by Nazareth College.
