Global Awareness Roundtable focuses on Germany
The Global Awareness Roundtable will focus on Germany -- its history, culture, politics and language -- with Jorg Pomplun, a Fulbright teaching assistant from Germany making a presentation at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Knight Club, Powell Campus Center.
Pomplun received degrees in English and music from Humbolt University and the University of Berlin. He has taught two courses this year at Alfred University, and is involved in a number of extracurricular activities, including serving as concertmaster of the AU orchestra. He enjoys improv theater, music and dance. He lives at the Language House, which this year is devoted to the study of German.
The Global Awareness Roundtable is a monthly event designed to introduce the Alfred community to a variety of cultures around the world. The informal gathering allows international faculty, students and alumni to introduce participants to countries as diverse as Japan, Guatemala, and Tunisia.
Students who have lived, studied or worked abroad also share their experiences and observations. Presentations cover a wide range of topics including history, traditions, art, music and food.
