Elmira tops AU in women's lacrosse

ELMIRA, NY -- The Alfred University women's lacrosse team lost at Elmira College, 13-11, Saturday afternoon.

The host Soaring Eagles led 9-7 at the half and held on as both teams tallied four goals after intermission. With the loss, Alfred falls to 4-5 on the season (1-5 Empire 8). Elmira improves to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

Sophomore attack Michelle Adams (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) led AU with a game-high four goals. Sophomore midfielder Elyse Caldwell (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) added three goals; junior defender Emily Steen (South Pasadena, CA/Purnell) netted two, and junior attack Emily Tobin (Penfield, NY/Penfield) had a goal and two assists.

Lauren Mokes, Sarah Young and Erin Kendall each tallied three goals for Elmira.

Sophomore Kate Baughman (Rush, NY/Rush-Henrietta) made 14 saves in goal for Alfred, while Elmira's Jalene McCullough stopped eight shots.

Alfred is in action next on Sunday, April 19, at 1 p.m. at home against Ithaca.
