Alumna to appear on 'Jeopardy!' game show
4/23/09

Evelyn Chester, AU class of 2004, will be a contestant on the Friday, April 24 episode of Jeopardy! (Check local listings to see what time the show airs in your area.)

Chester was a comparative cultures major at AU and minored in German, and anthropology. She graduated magna cum laude and was a National Merit Scholar at Alfred.

Chester took the Jeopardy! online test in early 2008 and received an e-mail inviting her to go to an audition in Washington, DC in June 2008. Then in January 2009 she was invited back to film the show in February.

“The filming process is kind of [how] I imagine a jury would be,” said Chester. “You’re not allowed to talk to anyone other than your fellow contestants and the contestant coordinators during the show.”

Chester currently works as a park ranger for the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site in Washington, DC. She helps to develop and present interpretive programs, runs the visitor center, and updates and maintains the Web site.
