Outdoor track teams compete at Cornell; men’s 4X400 team runs at Penn Relays 4/27/09
For the AU men, junior Lee Consolo (Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville) earned a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter run (49.80 seconds) . He also finished 21st in the 200-meter run (22.93 seconds) on Saturday. Other top performers for the AU men were: freshman Richard Scott (Eden, NY/Eden) was 11th n the 400-meter hurdles (59.50 seconds); senior Corey Smith (Albion, NY/Albion), seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:31.93); freshman Evan Roush (Newport, PA/Newport), sixth in the triple jump (12.96 meters); and sophomore Markenson Joseph (Brooklyn, NY/Nazareth Regional), 15th in the hammer throw (35,19 meters). Junior Megan Crimmins (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) was ninth in the 1,500-meter run (5:03.80) to lead the AU women. Freshman Elisabeth Phillips-Jones (Watertown, MA/Watertown) was 21st in the 800-meter run (2:28.20); freshman Tiffany Buck (Freeport, ME/Freeport) was 25th in the 1,500 meters (6:16.46); and freshman Anne Mills (Scarborough, ME/Scarborough) was 26th in the 100-meter hurdles (18.41 seconds). On Friday, Consolo, Scott, junior Matt Phillips (Kinderhook, NY/Ichabod Crane) and senior Erik Jezek (Orchard Park, NY/Hamburg) competed in the 4X400-meter relay at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. They finished third in their heat (3:24.62) and 67th overall. The AU men’s and women’s teams compete next on Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2, at the New York State championships, hosted by St. Lawrence University. |
