8/05/09

“New York Green Fest 2009,” a three-day series of workshops and forums focusing on issues of sustainability and “green” living opens Friday at Alfred University.

Presentations range from the how-to variety, including how to build an earth oven how to construct your own windmill and how to make tofu, to forums on regionalism and sustainability, visioning a green future, sustainable energy and politics and nature.

There will also be opportunities to take a yoga class, hike in the woods under the guidance of Dr. Michele Hluchy, professor of environmental studies at Alfred University, dance or swim.

Organizers are hoping to have alternative vehicles, those that run on natural gas, electricity and vegetables, on display from 10 am – 4 pm.
