What’s New at the AU Career Development Center

The Career Development Center has a number of resources available to students and alumni that help ease the job/internship search. Here are two worth noting at this time.

EmployOn is a recently acquired resource that crawls through the Internet looking for and aggregating anything that looks like a job (internship, co-op, etc.) posting. It boasts “over 7 million jobs, the largest jobs database in the industry, four times larger than the nearest competitor.”

This resource is now available to members of the Alfred University community. Simply go to, create your profile and begin searching. This program also allows for setting up search agents, posting resumes, salary data, and a number of career related resources. The most notable feature is the job search capacity. We recommend using the ‘advance job search’ component. It’s also important to realize that there is a little bit of a learning curve with respect to getting the most out of this resource; therefore, patience and persistence will pay dividends.

The other resource we want to feature is LinkedIn. Many of you have heard of this professional networking site and over 630 of you have joined the Alfred University Career Development Center group.

If you are looking for networking opportunities without the hyper-social features found on Facebook, then please consider setting up a profile and joining the AU CDC group. The purpose of the group is to create connections and share career related concerns, questions and opportunities. As we slowly ease out of this global recession, the support and opportunities from our associations (e.g. Alfred University) will prove to be a vital resource.

As always, if you have any questions or if the CDC can be of any assistance, please contact us at 607.871.2164 or
