BUFFALO, NY — The Alfred University volleyball dropped its 2009 season opener, falling 3-1 to host Medaille College Tuesday evening. The Lady Saxons lost by scores of 25-16, 21-25, 25-20, and 25-17.

Sophomore Emily Crosby (Fairport, NY/Fairport) led AU with eight kills and four digs. Junior Tara Quigley (Bluepoint, NY/Bayport-Bluepoint) and senior Janelle Brandow (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) each had five kills, with Quigley adding two blocks. Senior Emily Steen (South Pasadena, CA/Purnell) and junior Erika Huyck (Forestville, NY/Forestville) had nine and seven digs, respectively, and senior Emma Walsh (Lancaster, NY/Mt. St. Mary) had 20 assists.

AU is in action next on Saturday, Sept. 5, when the Lady Saxons play their home opener at noon against Cazenovia.
